Electric lift trucks bring driver focus and low ownership cost

General Engineering

A new UX series of driver-focused four-wheel electric forklifts engineered to deliver low ownership costs to a broad group of industries, is now offered by Yale.

The Yale UX Series is engineered in a range of six vehicles from one to 3.5 tonnes to provide an ideal solution to meet users’ needs for forklifts needed for less frequent usage, with outstanding service backup. The four-wheel electric UX models complement the broader UX series range.

“The new range combines robust quality and strong service backing to cost-effectively tackle simple everyday materials handling needs, bringing the performance of electric forklifts to a broader market sector seeking optimum cost-efficiency for their needs,” says Yale Area Business Director, Pacific, Mark Chaffey.

The Yale UX Series’ safety-oriented design and agile performance – with wide-view mast and small steering wheel – help equip the new lift trucks for easy use in restricted spaces and around diverse businesses of all sizes, including agribusiness, food and beverage, refrigeration and warehouse, transport and logistics, manufacturing, primary processing and packaging.

“Through the use of high-quality components and advanced ergonomic technology, the Yale UX series provides the driver with superb control while delivering reliable operation and lower wear and tear. Coupled with fast availability of genuine and cost-effective replacement parts, Yale’s ‘People, Products, Productivity’ market advantage is what helps to reduce maintenance costs and downtime,” says Chaffey.

“Not all users need to pay for the features required for 24-hour performance, when their needs are for machinery that will consistently do a top job over fewer shifts or at intermittent times. This is where the Yale UX makes sense, complementing the broader range of Yale lift trucks. We believe that, in addition to our unwavering commitment to quality demonstrated over 137 years, the services around the truck are highly important to users, including parts, maintenance, and fleet management designed to maximise uptime and minimise ownership issues. Yale stocks millions of all-makes parts with rapid dispatch of orders to customers served by a strong service network extending across Asia-Pacific, including New Zealand.”

The Yale UX series was engineered with the driver at the forefront of the design process, with an ‘outstanding’ range of compliance, performance, comfort and easy service features. The operator compartment has been configured to enable the driver to work effortlessly and in comfort, allowing easy accessibility and controllability. A range of standard and optioned features are available for this range to enable the user to configure the truck to its application-specific needs.

Hydraulics reliability

High-quality cylinders with hard chrome rods reduce seal wear for longer life. The full-flow, low pressure filter on the return helps keep the hydraulic oil clean. This in turn can help minimise the overall seal and pump wear. In addition, it can also keep the control valve in good condition, which leads to lower service costs.

Further features include:

• High-strength, profiled-steel overhead guard for added protection coupled with low step height for easy access. The secure overhead guard has passed CE drop test and safety standards.

• Wide view mast to enhance operators’ forward view field. The high-vis mast provides soft landing technology as standard to absorb shocks. Controlled mast lowering speeds help to avoid damage. LED lighting is standard.

• Full suspension seat that reduces driver fatigue, which, like the steering wheel, is adjustable to suit a wide variety of operators. Safety features also include an Operator Presence System.

• Performance features include simple and clear display of speed, power, error code and working hours to keep operators fully informed. Colour displays integrated with functions such as performance selection to configure the truck for different applications.

• Integrated motor, transmission and axle provide compact performance and accessibility for maintenance. Precision cut gears provide reduced wear and lower noise levels.
