Honeywell Safety Products has added two new Salisbury electrical safety products to their extensive arc flash protection range. Arc flash hazards are a critical safety issue for electrical workers and can cause serious injuries; workers can prevent harm to themselves and others by wearing the appropriate arc flash protection when working with electricity. The Salisbury by Honeywell arc flash range now includes a high performance arc flash face shield suitable for use with AS/NZS approved hard hats and new lightweight arc flash clothing.
The AS1200U arc flash face shield is a weight-balancing, arc flash-protection face shield (with universal hard hat adaptor) that is designed to fit on most Australian Standards Approved front brim hard hats regardless of the manufacturer. The shield easily stows in a balanced, compact position and is centered over the top of the front brim hard hat when not needed, allowing users to work comfortably, safely and efficiently at all times. All parts of the face shield are dielectric and specifically designed for arc flash protection with an ATPV rating of 12cal/cm2. The face shield utilises nanotechnology and can be fitted with an anti-fog insert to provide a clearer, more transparent window for improved visibility in humid conditions. The AS1200 also includes an upper bracket ventilation feature that allows natural air to flow through – reducing fogging and lowering CO2 levels to ensure maximum comfort for the wearer. Additional options include attachable task lights which fit securely to each side of the face shield, enabling a worker to use both hands while working, and a transparent chin guard which increases a workers peripheral view, allowing them improved awareness and greater safety.
Salisbury by Honeywell’s new premium lightweight Arc Flash Protection Suit is rated to 40cal/cm2 and has a total fabric weight of 11oz/yd2, making it one of the lightest suits in the industry. The lightweight material is strong enough to provide workers with the highest quality protection and light enough to offer superior levels of comfort, keeping workers cooler for longer while still meeting all the necessary arc flash protection standards. The synthetic fiber blend boasts a heat attenuation factor of 93.20 percent – meaning the garment is not only flame resistant but also resists 93.2 percent of the heat experienced in an arc flash – and is available individually (in a coat, hood and overalls) or in kits. All items in the Salisbury range comply with the highest NFPA 70E HRC standards, making them the safe to use in any situation.
