Lenovo Announces ThinkPad X1 Carbon Recall

In the interests of public safety, and in cooperation with regulatory authorities, Lenovo has announced the voluntary recall of ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th Generation notebooks manufactured between December 2016 and October 2017. Lenovo will offer customers free-of-charge service inspections for all recalled notebooks. 
Lenovo advises customers to use the information provided by Lenovo to determine if they are using one of the recalled notebooks.
The affected systems can be identified by machine type, serial number and build date. 

The following machine types may be affected by this recall:

20HQ

20HR

20K3

20K4

Built between

12/16-10/17

 

 

Hazard

An unfastened screw can damage the battery causing overheating, posing a fire hazard. 

Remedy

Customers who have ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th generation notebooks affected by this recall should turn off their system and refrain from using the affected notebook until the service inspection is complete. 

Sold At

Direct to certain customers, through business partners and online at Lenovo.com starting in December 2016 to October 2017.
