Maintenance Engineers Network Evenings extend to Tasman Nelson Region

Maintenance Matters

It may have been the first foray into the Tasman Nelson region, but if the reception and enthusiasm at Trinder Engineering is anything to go by, then the Maintenance Engineering Society can look forward to healthy growth in the region. As part of its regional profile drive, the society was pleased to bring its Kaeser Compressors Network Evening series to host company the Trinder Group in October.

Trinder is a company with a long association with Tasman and timber in particular, but like a lot of provincial operations, they have learnt how to spread their wings and punch above their weight in national and global markets, making a name for themselves in transport, construction, manufacturing and industrial service over their 60 year history. As well as specialised equipment for the agriculture and viticulture, Trinder Engineers and Waimea Engineering are experts at truck decks and bodies, specialised trailers, felling heads and excavator booms, arms and cabs. As well as viewing some of the massive projects at the Trinder workshop, the guests were treated to an impressive induction heating display on the truck chassis straightener in the Waimea workshop.

While the main Trinder workshop was bursting at the seams, a move to larger premises is afoot. According to Fabrication Manager Janti Makan, the requirement for cleanliness and housekeeping in the constrained environment has actually been beneficial for the culture of the team, with each staff member working in an allocated area or space.

The Kaeser Compressors Network Evening series is as much about highlighting the capabilities of local companies as it is about spectacular achievements or interesting maintenance challenges and the Trinder evening did not pull up short on providing reassurance to local clientele with its impressive range of heavy and traditional machine centres

The MESNZ Kaeser Compressors Network Evenings are hosted to showcase local operations and provide networking opportunities for engineers across all regions of New Zealand. The evenings offer the opportunity to take a look at the host operation and discuss common issues and solutions in a relaxed after work environment. Open to interested members of the public, the nights are well patronised.

The Maintenance Engineering Society is active across New Zealand, providing professional development opportunities for maintenance engineers and manufacturing operations to network and share innovations and experiences; both at a national level at their annual national conference or at these regional events. The 2017 National Maintenance Engineering Conference will be held at the Claudelands Event Centre, Hamilton in November.
