What’s the right conveyor system for you?

Product Watch

Gravity, chain driven, belt or band conveyor are some of the types of conveyors that can be used to move product from A to B. But which one is the most suitable for you? The best advice EQM can give you is that before you start planning a new or replacement conveyor system, you should talk to an expert, like EQM, and it can recommend what will be the most effective.

As well as offering some advice EQM can also provide 3D drawings based on standard sizes that will detail how the equipment fits into the space set aside as well as how it complements other equipment that’s part of the process.

Here are some of the more common types of conveyors:

Gravity Roller
A gravity conveyor moves the load without utilising motor power sources, usually down an incline or through a person pushing the load along a flat roller conveyor. Gravity conveyors transport products or work in progress from one work area to another.

Chain Driven Roller Conveyor (CDLRs)
CDLRs are great for handling heavy product with smooth bottom or on pallets. CDLRs are used for zero pressure accumulation in warehouse operations handling such things as steel sheet or structural shapes and pallets and skids. This is a very versatile conveying unit for package handling, accumulation and automobile tire handling systems.

Belt Conveyors
These are suitable for moving any object, be it light to medium duty packages and are ideally suited for packages as small as 10cm long. Belt driven can either be a stand-alone conveyor or as part of a conveyor system.

Custom steel belt conveyors
These are ideal for a variety of light and heavy duty applications including machine tool and chip handling environments, die casting operation, stamping operations, while plant chip and scrap removal systems, inspections, parts handling and package operation.

Band Driven
These are also known as a modular BDR roller conveyor. These are very reliable and are easy to change layouts with corner modules and straight sections linking together with additional parts and are used in carton filling and handling systems for fruit handling or food production lines.

Pallet Roller conveyors
Demand for pallet roller conveyors are on the rise since the new work safety regulations have kicked in.

Pallet roller conveyors are a safe, reliable and efficient replacement to forklifts and are a valuable addition to large scale food facilities and those that are a bit more compact and tight for space.
