Visitors blown away at vacuum firm

Te Awamutu vacuum and blower service supplier Mbar hosted members of the Maintenance Engineering Society of New Zealand in an after-hours show-and-tell as part of the society’s Regional Network Evening series.

Designed to showcase local suppliers and provide networking opportunities for engineers across all regions of New Zealand, the series offers the opportunity to take a look at the host operation and discuss common issues and solutions in a relaxed environment. The nights are well patronised as proven at the Te Awamutu premises of Mbar, the first in the Waikato, where a respectable audience from as far away as Taranaki, Hawkes Bay and even Christchurch attended.

The team at Mbar, led by Paul Vickers, took the audience through a guided tour of the vacuum and blower servicing and reconditioning process before demonstrating the online customer service database and dynamic balancing plant. Attendees were particularly impressed with the surgical cleanliness of the operation, a result of mBars investment in the 5S lean manufacturing program.

As well as learning a few first hand tips on the installation, operation and maintenance of blowers and vacuum pumps, the audience was treated to a practical demonstration of vacuum physics with an mBar designed transparent vacuum plant.
