ifm have launched a new range of factory automation ultrasonic sensors, including versions for the F&B sector made from 316SS, with IP67 protection rating. These sensors complement ifm’s existing range of optical sensing solutions, typically used in conveying applications.
Ultrasonic sensors are ideal for detecting clear materials, such as glass, clear plastic film or PET bottles. Given ultrasonic sensors transmit & receive sound waves, objects detected reflect the sound waves back to the emitter, and the distance is determined using the “time of flight” principle.
These sensors come with all normal outputs, including IO-Link, Analogue 4…20mA or 0..10vDC, PNP or NPN switching outputs, and operating over ranges varying 0…300mm & 0…2,200mm.
ifm ultrasonic sensors come in easy to mount M18 designs, or the widely used compact “cubic” design. And they have a particularly small blind zone and relatively long sensing range, usually only achieved by sensors with considerably larger housing designs.
These sensors operate reliably, even with dust environment soiling, allowing them to solve applications where photoelectric sensors would not normally be considered.
ifm electronic is committed to working closely with its customers. Developing products which precisely match their needs. The company provides expert, readily accessible technical support to help users maximise the benefits they gain from ifm electronic products.
