It’s got a new name, some new content and a lot of convenience all wrapped up in one course.
The Registered Electrical Workers course, previously known as Foundation Passport Electrical, has been updated to ensure it aligns to the latest content requirements of the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB).
The name change reflects that only registered electricians, electrical engineers, appliance service people etc can do the course. Previously some trainees thought it was a pathway to becoming an electrician and the name change reinforces that. It’s purely a competency maintenance course for registered workers.
While the one-day course is basically run on behalf of the EWRB, the Site Safe course has first aid training and a bonus health and safety section.
The course covers the prescribed EWRB syllabus and includes:
First Aid/CPR
· This is run by a qualified First Aid/CPR trainer.
· Covers specific requirements in legislation and codes of practice for the electrical industry.
Health and Safety
· Shape health and safety culture through positive conversations.
· Act to improve health and safety on site.
The course is for registered:
· Electricians
· Electrical engineers
· Electrical installers
· Electrical service technician
· Associated tradesperson
· Electrical appliance serviceperson
· Electrical appliance serviceperson [endorsed]
· Electrical inspector [Can only be assessed by an electrical inspector].

Please note: This course is NOT for line mechanics, cable jointers and high voltage/works electricians.
The course will:
· Renew the attendee’s practising license and Site Safety Card (Passport) at the same time
· Provide practical testing skills in line with AS/NZS 3000:2007 Section 8 and AS/NZS 3760:2010
· Provide competence in First Aid/CPR
· Earn attendees 4 credits towards their Site Safe Health and Safety in Construction programme.
Before doing the course
The EWRB requires that trainees complete two brief online modules before attending this course. Go to www.ewrb-learning.co.nz/register/ for the details. Trainees must also bring their certificate to the course.
[Please note: While completion of this course will renew the EWRB practicing license, trainees must still pay a license renewal fee to the EWRB to complete the renewal.]
