Turn machine data into operational insights with TAS Edge

Manufacturers can now gain greater visibility of their machine performance and access the operational data needed to improve efficiency, optimise processes and support informed decision-making with the introduction of TAS Edge - the latest addition to TURCK’s IIoT and service platform, the TURCK Automation Suite.

TURCK is expanding its IIoT and service platform with the TAS Edge module for the structured collection, processing and forwarding of machine data. TAS Edge can run on edge controllers such as TURCK’s TX-series HMIs or systems running Windows or Linux.

According to David Coghlan, Product Marketing & Channel Manager TURCK Australia, the solution collects OT data at the machine, processes the information, and makes it available via an external MQTT broker or directly to cloud, analytics and IT systems.

“This creates a consistent data foundation for end-to-end industrial data flows - even in heterogeneous system landscapes and retrofit scenarios,” says David.

TAS Edge also simplifies the integration of IO-Link devices through a web-based configuration interface, IODD files and templates.

“Users can configure the collection and forwarding of device data without the need for extensive programming. For more complex requirements, a low-code environment based on Node-RED is available.”

Features such as a central connection manager, integrated MQTT communication and certificate management enable transparent data transfer between OT and IT systems, while status indicators, monitoring mechanisms and live views support ongoing operations.

“In upcoming releases, TAS Edge will expand its data collection capabilities to include digital, analogue, RFID and roller motor data,” adds David.

The software provides selected machine data for dashboards, reports and analyses. Typical applications include plant engineering, machine integration and the retrofitting of existing systems. TAS Edge supports both individual machines and complex plant structures and enables reproducible and documentable configurations.

“We’re excited about this solution. It gives customers greater visibility of their machine systems and empowers them with data they can use to optimise operations,” he concludes.
