New gripper for the Jumbo: flexible, robust, sustainable

Robotics

Vacuum tube lifters are indispensable tools when it comes to ergonomic handling. However, the lifting aids can only develop their full potential with the right gripper. With the PSSG suction cups for sacks, Schmalz has developed a solution that grips powerfully and impresses with its long service life.

The Jumbo vacuum tube lifter ensures that companies can handle heavy loads ergonomically. Whether wood and glass panels, cardboard boxes, metal components or bags - a wide variety of goods can be moved quickly and effortlessly. Schmalz has optimized the new PSSG suction cups for sacks for mounting on the Jumbo especially for handling sacks. The PSSG reliably grips coated and uncoated bags made of paper, plastics or textile layers with different filling levels. It is also suitable for raw rubber bales and shrink-wrapped packages.

Schmalz has come up with something special for the sealing of the new gripper: The innovative sealing element made of FDA-compliant silicone or wear-resistant NBR (acrylonitrile butadiene rubber) is extremely robust and lasts a long time. Compared to conventional foam rubber seals, the service life is extended. As a result, companies benefit from long maintenance intervals and stable processes. They also do not have to worry about contamination from crumbling foam.

Quick changes, sustainable use

The new sealing is also impressive in terms of sustainability: Schmalz dispenses with adhesives and relies on a screwable metal insert for the connection. This allows employees to change the sealing lip in just a few minutes. In addition, all materials can be disposed of separately at the end of their useful life.

The new suction cups for sacks grip the JumboFlex, JumboErgo and JumboSprint. Thanks to three different sizes and the two different sealing materials, the gripper adapts perfectly to a wide range of applications. Its glass fiber reinforced plastic housing is very light and a filter fleece protects the system from contamination.
