Turck sensor enables inclination detection for simple switching tasks

Automation

Automation specialist Turck has expanded its QR20 portfolio with the release of the B1N180V-QR20 inclination switch - a cost-effective solution for simple switching applications.

This single-axis sensor makes use of MEMS acceleration measurement and offers a fixed switching window over 180 degrees, allowing it to replace mercury, liquid and ball switches across a range of applications.

“The inclination switch combines robust mechanics, quick installation and maintenance-free operation,” explains Andrei Proskurin, Head of Products & Technology for Turck Australia. “Since no actuators or teach processes are required, the sensor can be commissioned quickly and easily.”

The B1N180V-QR20 was specially developed for applications where reliable inclination detection is required – without any complexity. “By offering a simple switching function with a robust, maintenance-free design, the sensor provides a practical alternative to traditional mechanical tilt switches.”

The solution features a PNP switching output that activates at 180 degrees along the sensor axis. A MAGKIT-QR20 magnetic mounting kit allows for quick, drill-free installation while simplifying alignment of the switching angle during setup. Combined with a maintenance-free measurement principle and sealed housing, the sensor is well-suited to demanding environments and applications where positioning conditions may change.

“Ease of installation was a key focus during development,” notes Andrei. “With magnetic mounting and a sealed design, customers can install and align the sensor quickly - even in harsh industrial environments.”

Typical areas of application include mobile equipment and vehicles,  industrial plants and infrastructure applications. These cover mobile conveyor belts which are used in process automation and mining, AGVs in intralogistics and warehouses, roll-off tippers, locks, weirs and ventilation flaps.
