Precision magnetic length measuring systems

General
SIKO is a world leader in linear and rotary based magnetic measurement technology and its MagLine systems, available in both incremental and absolute variations, are the systems of choice for manufacturers wanting absolute positioning and cutting precision.
Keith Mandeno of Mandeno Electronic Equipment, the New Zealand SIKO agents, reports that the MagLine magnetic length measuring systems are popular with manufacturers looking to precision-cut materials such as aluminium, timber and steel.
Accuracy is to just 0.1mm – however Mandeno says the systems can be set up to measure to 0.001mm on request.
The incremental models are powered by the latest lithium batteries which have a lifespan of up to six years.
MagLine measuring systems are simple, yet incredibly effective. The core of the system is a scale consisting of a flexible steel band and a magnetic layer, regularly magnetised with north and south poles. The length of the intervals mainly determines the system’s resolution and accuracy. For mounting the band is simply glued to the machine base and mechanically protected by a polished stainless steel cover strip.
The MagLine systems are an economical solution for a wide
range of measuring tasks requiring long lengths, high precision and easy handling.
